"Mission to Jedha" is the only one with an unusually long silent gap, but you can easily trim and condense the file with free online tools.

With the individual tracks being $1.29 each, you're likely to spend nearly a third of the full price by the time you get just three extra cues.įor me, the entire album is excellent, and the only tracks that I easily and quickly booted off my hard drive were the bonus tracks (they really are as abrupt as others have said).
To be honest, if all you have is the 21-track OST release and you don't mind MP3 quality, it truly is worth picking up the full expanded release from Amazon as it's only $11.49. I don’t want to buy the whole expanded release but wouldn’t mind adding two or three tracks to the existing album. If you had to pick ten minutes of music from the additional tracks what would they be? Really good stuff by Giacchino, one of my favorites from him.

I do prefer the two-and-half minute "Imperial Suite" over any statement of the theme in the score though.Īltough the original album in 2016 to me is equilibrated (have most of the highlights from the movie), this expanded is what i was hoping (more than Solo) since the release of the movie back in the day. The increased tempo of the statement packs a lot of momentum and energy into that cue. FINDING A WAY THROUGH should have made the soundtrack cut.Įxactly!! The end of Good Luck Little Sister has the very best statement of the imperial theme in the whole score! Wow some of those expanded cues are amazing and truly elevate the score higher then what the soundtrack offered. I don't care about the hate I'll get for this but I prefer this score to any of the sequel scores. Much like Star Trek: Into Darkness, the expansion is a much better listening experience for me than the OST. I'm about halfway through the expansion now, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. (Man, I'm glad I bought my stereo before I had any real bills.) I listen to music through an honest to Odin stereo too. Just burn it to CD and stop depriving yourself of music you enjoy. I’m the meantime really really hoping for a hi-res release. Looks like there is a bug in the Qobuz search for this sure they will remedy. Just an update, it is available to stream on Qobuz: Sampling it in low-fi MP3 quality now from Spotify but won’t likely shell out money for 16/44 downloads without hearing it lossless first. This is one of the oddest release strategies I have seen. Good to know and terrific if you have an Apple Music Subscription - unubtannium to stream on Qobuz. It's available to stream at Apple Music (in lossless quality). So if you want to preserve that particular edited assembly you'll want to keep it.Īlso the film version of Jedha City Ambush is the alternate on the expanded soundtrack. And no, the John Williams segment at the top is not included here either.
That's a film edit combining Jyn Erso & Hope Suite, The Imperial Suite, and Guardians Of The Whills Suite. Yeah, both of those are still his best works!įor those who have downloaded the FYC tracks - the one that is NOT on the expanded soundtrack is 7M50 Rogue One End Credits - Film Version (noJW). Looks like it was simply an error on Qobuz's part. Hopefully it will be available for both eventually.

That's true of many soundtracks: streaming rights are a different thing than download and cd rights. Doesn’t appear to be available for streaming. Strange you can buy the 16/44 download from Qobuz but can’t stream it on my premium account. Go back and listen to his Medal Of Honor and Medal Of Honor Underground. Which is usually the case with Giacchino. I'll have to revisit the OST, I remember liking it at the time but its not something I ever felt the need to go back to. Either obscure stuff or in expanded form, even if its only digital. Great to see Disney putting out more and more music. Do I hope a specialty label will come in and issue these expanded Star Wars scores and The Mandalorian on disc? Yes! But better to have one option, just downloads, then no options. You know what? While I'd still prefer a CD, getting these expanded releases at all is pretty nice.
